Celebrate Oregon Beer Newsletter

Celebrating Oregon Beer

Your fortnightly round-up of all the beer and hop news from the Beaver State.

There's so much going on right now! If you haven't had a chance to participate in the OSU/Celebrate Oregon Beer study, check in with Eugene's ColdFire Brewing and Bend's Deschutes Brewery, which should still have theirs on tap. Corvallis' Block 15 is due to be tapped next week. (If you missed the news, here's a full report on the project.)

To segue to concurrent happenings, fresh hop season is in full force now, and the Fresh Hop Pop-up will kick off Friday in Portland. On Tuesday, 9/23, the OSU project's beers will all be pouring and Jeff Alworth (Celebrate Oregon Beer) and Tom Shellhammer (OSU) will be on hand to answer questions about the study--and hand out Celebrate Oregon Beer stickers.

Finally, it's Oktoberfest season, and we have a lot of them on tap for you. See below for our special guide to all the O-fests happening across the state.

News

Kings & Daughters Open

Kyle Larsen and Kacie McMackin opened Kings and Daughters in 2021, but have never had a place to call their own--until now. Their new taproom is open in Hood River, and features a vibe much like you'll find on their labels--floral and welcoming.

BearKat Open in Sherwood

We reported on the imminent arrival of Oregon's newest brewery a few months ago, and now BearKat, Oregon's newest brewery is open in Sherwood.

Munich Oktoberfest

In just over two days, Munich will launch the 190th edition of Oktoberfest. The event remains the North Star of beer--or volks--fests. If you're feeling FOMO, scroll down for local chances to break out the dirndls and lederhosen.

UK's Cask Ale Woes

The consumer-advocacy group CAMRA had some unhappy news to report last week: they were canceling their own annual beer fest amid falling sales and flat membership.
